Men’s Captain’s Day – 25 June 2017

Men’s Captain’s Day – 25 June 2017

What a super Captain’s Day we all had on 25th June. The weather was perfect and Mike, Justin and the team had prepared a wonderful course (as always of course).

The 5 morning groups got off precisely as required and Nigel Beedham’s 40 points looked at lunchtime like a strong contender for a prize.  However, it was not to be as Terry Cook and Manuel Luengo both scored an excellent 41 points with Manuel’s back nine just pipping Terry and getting First Prize. Manuel’s gross score of 77 is at least 5 less than his age so it was a terrific performance.

The day was a non-qualifier as all players used the ladies tee on the 5th and 14th holes with the challenge of pitching the ball on to the green and the ball then coming to rest on the green.  Despite the firmness of the green after the recent dry weather 21 players managed to achieve the aim and were entered into the draw for the bottle of port.  Steve Gower and Paul Reed managed to do it on both 5th and 14th and so had 2 entries into the draw.  Paul Reed was the name pulled from the basket to take the prize.

The full prize list is set out below.
