The Whiteleaf Golf Club 1907-2007
100 YEARS OLD
A unique nine hole golf course, set in the spectacularly beautiful Buckinghamshire Chiltern Hills. A serious challenge to the low handicap golfer, whilst still able to accommodate the higher handicap player or society member. With a chalk base giving ample drainage and the ability to hold moisture through some of the hottest summers, the course will always tend to be in good condition.
The Club, founded circa 1904/7 by Mary Phillips wife of Major Herbert Percy Davies Phillips of Whiteleaf House, underwent major changes to the course design soon after the end of the First World War. Having acquired additional land and were also engaged in consultation with the design services of Harry S. Colt, the renowned golf course architect of that era, although the minutes with the details as to exactly what extent have been mislaid, however the nine hole course layout was transformed to virtually what exists today. The Club is preparing to celebrate it's centenary in year 2007.
Steeped in history and tradition, Whiteleaf's facilities has an attractive Clubhouse originating from a short row of 14th century built dwellings that included a bodgers cottage and a small shop. These buildings have been tastefully blended by a series of well-balanced extensions and improvements over the course of time. The fine and comprehensive facilities that are available provide for dining functions with Bar and in-house catering suitable for every occasion.
Should professional services be required, a full time golf professional is available for teaching or advice and a well-stocked shop is equipped to satisfy your golfing needs.
